Most of my academic friends know me for my work in generative AI, image and video diffusion models, vision and language, even fairness. But I don’t often talk about my passion for AI applications in fashion — which shaped my PhD thesis, and a good portion of my industry career. https://t.co/JSdUscQpUP
“the time will pass anyways” has rewritten my brain and it’s a random comment on a tiktok https://t.co/cArWsgREZD https://t.co/o3olmwbjLi
There's this phenomenon I noticed in bootstrapping a business which I'm going to just call "the squeeze". It is by far the hardest part of the mental game and it's something I went through at the end of 2023 and beginning of 2024. The squeeze is characterized by: 1. Making https://t.co/y8Xjcp3N6Q
Google is doing something very interesting by building specialized versions of its frontier models for math, healthcare, and education (so far). The benchmarks on all of these are pretty impressive, and it seems to be beyond what can be done with traditional fine tuning alone.
To all OpenAI employees, I want to say: Learn to feel the AGI. Act with the gravitas appropriate for what you're building. I believe you can "ship" the cultural change that's needed. I am counting on you. The world is counting on you. :openai-heart:
Building a tech startup feels like trying to get a PhD and an MBA at the same time. In a given day I’ll swap between code, white papers, marketing copy, and sales/support calls. Generalist dream job
there’s a genre of phrases that sound like they’re from the bible or like paradise lost, but really, really aren’t. like “there are cathedrals everywhere for those with the eyes to see” which is ofc a jordan peterson tweet about a bottle of evian. what are the others?
Microsoft has released Data Wrangler, a VS Code extension that gives you a UI for data viewing & cleaning and that generates clean Python/pandas code. I really hope that they rip out Power Query in Excel and replace it with this! I'd go as far a saying that this should have been https://t.co/RcyY7yAWy7
In 2020 my neighbor got a piano. I would hear her at 6am every few days. It was brutal the first year yall Today in 2024, I woke up to her playing a Concerto. I want to cry, please keep trying. What an honor it has been to hear this journey
Yes, I went to college for Music Composition and dropped out and taught myself software and now I’ve been at SpaceX for nearly 6 years and I’m a Lead Software Engineer. Again, high school degree only. https://t.co/YqIw7FOXeQ
If you're making content- either be ultra-authentic (Emma Chamberlain, Sam Sulek) or a fictional character (Gstaad Guy, Dax Flame) The in-between (which is 99% of 'content creators') will get absolutely smoked in the next few yrs Be extremely real or extremely fake Both work

life gets so much better after you accept that the beginning of anything ever is going to suck a little bit but will ultimately be worth it (for example-most pilot episodes/first seasons, starting a new exercise routine, doing laundry, picking up the phone, going outside, etc..)
if you gaslight yourself into thinking that your smart enough to figure something out, you will, eventually, figure it out
Was at a conference recently where Sal khan talked about the ai tutors they’re building They showed a lot of examples like this one where they can create bots that help kids learn at a pace they’re comfortable with and analogies that might help them without giving the answer… https://t.co/IZTNboki2x
There is an insane amount of talented people quote tweeting this with their work Take some time to scroll through and support 🙏 🎨 🎮
Today's openai event was not the blockbuster it was hyped to be (model improvements welcome). Still, folks will be deeply disappointed if Google Assistant and Siri don’t match today’s demo going forward. If Google/Apple continues doing nothing, they are handing the assistants… https://t.co/9kkiwU4vRl
